Getting started
Noor lives at the top centre of your screen, in the notch. Hover over it to open the panel, and click the pin to keep it open. The gear opens Settings. On a Mac or display without a notch, Noor draws a small one. Noor needs macOS 14 or later.
My prayer times differ from my masjid's
Small differences are normal. In Settings, under Prayer times, choose your calculation method and Asr school, and move any prayer by a few minutes. If your masjid's timetable differs from the calculation, please follow your masjid or scholar. With Noor Plus, you can add its jamaat times under Masjid.
I live where the sun doesn't always rise or set
Above 65° north or south, on days when the sun doesn't rise or set, Noor uses the times for 65° at your longitude, the nearest latitude where it does, and says so on the Today tab. If your community follows another rule, set the times you need with the per-prayer adjustments in Settings, under Prayer times.
My location is wrong or missing
In Settings, under General, choose Use my current location or search for a city. If macOS has refused, allow Noor in System Settings, under Privacy & Security, Location Services. A location found automatically follows your Mac when you travel; a city you searched for stays put.
The Imam doesn't appear
The Imam is part of Noor Plus, so check that your trial or purchase is active, and that Show the Imam is on under Settings, Imam. He stays away while an app is full screen, while your screen is shared or locked, and during a call, and a quiet notification comes instead. If you asked him to stay quiet, he waits until that time has passed.
I can't hear the Imam or the Azaan
Under Settings, Imam, set The Imam speaks to Text + voice, and check your Mac's volume. The Azaan has its own switches under Settings, Azaan, and Fajr has its own. Neither plays while Noor is muted, on a call, or while your screen is shared or locked.
Notifications don't arrive
Allow Noor in System Settings, under Notifications, and check that Focus isn't holding them back.
Noor Plus and the trial
Noor Plus is a one-time purchase in the Mac App Store. The 7-day trial starts only when you press Start free trial, runs once per Apple account, and nothing is charged when it ends. When it ends, Noor keeps every free feature, and the Imam's moments become notifications.
Restoring a purchase
On a new Mac or after reinstalling, sign in to the Mac App Store with the same Apple account, and choose Restore Purchases under Settings, Noor Plus. It works on every Mac using that account.
Refunds
Apple handles every purchase, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple makes the decision, and we can't see or change your payment.
Your data
Your log, tasbih counts and settings are saved only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Containers/app.noor.mac/Data/Library/Application Support/Noor. To erase them, quit Noor and delete that folder. Back it up with the rest of your Mac; there is no account or sync. See the privacy policy for more.
Removing Noor
Choose Quit Noor under Settings, General, then delete Noor from your Applications folder.
