The short version

Noor has no account and no server of its own, and we collect no data from the app. What you log stays on your Mac.

What stays on your Mac

Your prayer log, fasting log, tasbih counts and settings are saved as files in Noor's own folder on your Mac. They are never uploaded. They stay until you remove them: delete Noor's folder (how) to erase them. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.

Location

If you allow it, Noor asks macOS for your location to calculate prayer times and to notice when you travel. Prayer times are calculated on your Mac and your location is never sent to us. Two things go through Apple's maps service, under Apple's privacy policy: finding the name and time zone of your location, and the text you type when you search for a city. You can search for a city instead of sharing your location, and you can take back permission at any time in System Settings, under Privacy & Security.

Calendar

If you turn on prayer blocks, Noor adds them to its own "Noor · Prayers" calendar, in the account your new events go to. If that is iCloud or another online account, the blocks sync through it like any other event. To move reminders around meetings, Noor reads when you are busy, on your Mac. It reads busy times only, never titles or who is invited, and never sends your calendar to us. This is off until you turn it on, and you can take back permission in System Settings.

The Imam's voice

The Imam's lines are recorded files inside the app. Nothing you say or type is turned into speech, and Noor never listens through your microphone. It only asks your Mac whether another app is using it, so the Imam and the Azaan stay quiet during calls.

Noor Plus

Apple handles the trial and the purchase through the App Store, under its own privacy policy. Noor only asks your Mac whether your Apple account owns them. We never see your name, your card or your Apple account. Updates also come through the App Store.

This website

This site sets no cookies and uses no tracking. Your theme and voice choices are kept in your own browser. The company hosting the site may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses, for a short time to keep it running. If you write to us, we use your email only to reply.

Sharing

We don't sell or share data, because we don't have any. Noor contains no advertising or analytics. Apple's services, named above, are the only third parties Noor uses.
